Class:
Not-for-Profit Promotion
Type:
More Than $10 Per Recipient
Objective:
To thank those who volunteered their services and resources for a community project.
Strategy and Execution: "The Spirit of
Giving" was the theme for this "Christmas in April" project to
rehabilitate 25 homes and three community centers in South Central
Los Angeles. In June, a banquet to honor the volunteers was
highlighted by the presentation of two wall pieces. The 31
professional craftspersons who donated their time were given a
colorful dimensional wall plaque with a red-handled paint brush, and
a sweeping stroke of green paint. The program logo of people
rebuilding a house was laser engraved along with the participant's
name and the "Spirit of Giving" appreciation message. The 25
corporate sponsors were given a wall hanging of a rainbow-dipped
paintbrush mounted in a velvet lined shadow box with a gold engraved
plate carrying the corporation's name, the program logo and the
"Spirit of Giving" message..
Results:
There was widespread media coverage of the volunteer event. The Foundation Officer for the Bank wrote that the "awards made our program a wonderful success.".
