Class: Internal Promotion/Budget
Objective: To reinforce a departmental mission
statement to enrich employees' work experience and productivity for
a division and the overall company.
Strategy and
Execution: To reinforce
the various points of the company's "culture statement" - a
statement to refine the way employees interact and improve working
relationships - one key point per month was presented to employees,
reinforced by printed information and an appropriate specialty item.
For example, a puzzle in a can illustrated "teamwork" with the
theme, "Teamwork comes in CANS not CANNOTS." Other key points were
Trust, Respect & Confidentiality, Communication, Image,
Environment, Quality Risk Taking, Career Growth & Development
and Training. Specialties reinforcing the points were ice scraper
(Copy: "Break the ice," for Communication), hand magnifier,
coasters, letter opener and flashlight. A custom computer-shaped
mirror read, "Quality begins with me," and an acrylic prism clock
said "Make time for training." Delivered personality to each
Information Systems Division workstation or office, the ten
specialties were to serve as a constant reminder of the Culture
Statement.
Results: "We've seen
that the effectiveness of these items has truly achieved exactly
what we expected," said the company's administrator of information
services, adding that employees looked forward to each key point and
specialty.
